Wenn dir die Musik von SYML, Vance Joy, George Esra und Neil Finn gefällt, wirst du sicher auch Mathew James White zu schätzen wissen. Der gebürtige Neuseeländer und mittlerweile seit Jahren in Deutschland ansässige Musiker wird aufgrund seines Repertoires voller eingängig Melodien oft mit den genannten Größen des Musikbusiness verglichen.
Seine Songs sind unter anderem auf Netflix, Amazon Prime, DMAX (Deutschland) und CNN zu hören und kann am besten als “Kiwi, dream, folk” beschrieben werden. Er befindet sich oft auf Europa-Tour und hat dabei über die Jahre eine starke und immer weiter steigende Fangemeinde aufgebaut – oft spielt er vor ausverkauftem Haus. Mathew hat beim Blue Balls Festival 2017 in Luzern gespielt, neben Stars wie Davis Gray, Peter Doherty & Jose Gonzalez.
Obwohl er immer noch sehr gerne tourt, gleichzeitig fokussiert er auf das Schreiben und Komponieren für Fernsehen, was dazu führte, dass sein jüngstes Angebot Only The Light – eine Alt-Pop-Hymne – in der USA Netflix-Miniserie “From Scratch” (Folge 6) platziert wurde und “What We’re Made Of” – ein filmischer Mutmacher, der mehrfach auf Radio Bremen gespielt wurde und eine Platzierung auf dem DMAX-Kanal in Deutschland erhielt.
Bis heute hat er sieben Alben veröffentlicht, zwei davon exklusiv auf seiner Homepage – Getting Through This With Positive Sounds (Bonus Special Edition im Jahr 2021 und Old and New im Jahr 2019), während sein viertes, “I’m Thinking of You” (2017), sein bisher persönlichstes Werk ist, das stark vom Verlust seines ersten Sohnes im Jahr 2014 beeinflusst wurde.

If you like the music of SYML, Vance Joy, George Esra und Neil Finn, you’ll almost certainly appreciate Kiwi dream folk specialist Mathew James White. The New Zealand born, German based Singer Songwriter is often compared to all of these artists with his repertoire of hook filled material. His songs can be heard on Netflix, Amazon Prime, DMAX (Germany) and CNN to name a few.

He’s focused a lot of his energy on touring Europe, building up a strong fan base over the years, often playing to sold-out houses. Mathew played at the Blue Balls Festival 2017 in Lucerne alongside artists such as Davis Gray, Peter Doherty & Jose Gonzalez. While he still tours, his focus has turned more to writing and composing for TV resulting in his recent offering Only The Light – an alt-pop uplifting anthem being placed on the Netflix mini series “From Scratch” (episode 6) and “What We’re Made Of” – a cinematic spirit lifter about being courageous receiving several spins on Radio Bremen and a placement on the DMAX channel in Germany.

He has released seven albums to date, two he made available exclusively from his website – Getting Through This With Positive Sounds (Bonus Special Edition in 2021 and Old and New in 2019 – while his fourth “I’m Thinking of You” (2017), is his most personal work to date, hugely influenced by the loss of his first son in 2014.
